One night a group of nomads were preparing to retire for the evening, when suddenly they were surrounded by a great light.
They knew they were in the presence of a celestial being.
With great anticipation, they awaited a heavenly message of great importance that they knew must be especially for them.
Finally, the voice spoke.
"Gather as many pebbles as you can. Put them in your saddle bags. Travel a day's journey. Tomorrow night you will be both glad and sad."
Afterwards, the nomads shared their disappointment and anger with each other.
They had expected the revelation of a great universal truth that would enable them to create wealth, health and purpose for the world. But instead they were given a menial task that made no sense to them at all.
However, the memory of the brilliance of their visitor caused each one to pick up a few pebbles and deposit them in their saddle bags while voicing their displeasure.
They traveled a day's journey. That night, while making camp, they reached into their saddle bags and discovered that the pebbles they had gathered the night before had turned into beautiful and brilliant diamonds!
Indeed, they were both glad and sad, just as the voice had promised.
They were glad they now had beautiful and valuable diamonds. They were sad they had not gathered more pebbles when they had the opportunity.
The moral
If you spend time picking up the pebbles now -- learning various life skills and working hard to apply it -- your future will then transform all that effort into great rewards.
This video is amazing. I admit, I have never seen the whole movie but this clip really spoke to me. The first couple of minutes are a lead-in to the real meat of the message. Are you an ant, or a grasshopper? Do you do what you’re told by those around you, even if it isn’t what is best for you, for fear of rocking the boat if you refuse? Or do you feel the need to push others down so that your own star can shine brighter?
He also touches on one of my favorite concepts: What you resist Persists! Mother Teresa once said, “If you are holding an anti-war rally, I will never attend. But if you hold a peace party I will be there.” She understood what so many in our world don’t: whatever you give your attention to will show up in your life. Nothing will ever be accomplished by pushing against it. That just adds more negative energy to an already negative situation, and what possible good can come from that? For example: instead of being anti-war, we should be pro-soldier supporting and pro-peace. Instead of a war on drugs, we should be focused on a world without addiction. Instead of anti-hunger campaigns, we should be envisioning a world where everyone has enough to eat. Do you feel the difference in the energy surrounding those thoughts? Whether we realize it or not, we are creating the circumstances under which we exist by our very attention to what is already around us. We are beginning to see a shift of conscious thought which is more focused on the world we WANT to live in . We cannot hope for change, if our attention is focused on what IS.
Once again the Law of Attraction is at work in my life. I wrote this blog post and then went to search for a video to compliment it. The video almost echoes my writing exactly. Crazy!…
“God wills us to have everything. As we express life, we fulfill God’s law of abundance. But we do this only as we realize that there is good enough to go around. Only as we know that all of God’s gifts are given as freely as the air and the sunshine.” – Ernest Holmes
It’s true, it’s true! There is more than enough goodness to go around! We live in an abundant universe, and there is no shortage of goodness, love, money, joy, excitement, inspiration. I think many of us are raised to believe that money is hard to come by, and that no one is truly happy without money. “Money buys happiness” and all that nonsense. There is no such thing as shortage. We have enough money and food to feed the world three times over. God provides.
The problem isn’t that there aren’t enough resources. Instead of living in a society where everyone trades services and helps their fellow man, (much the way the pioneers of our country lived when they first came here), we now live in a much more self-centered system. There are lots of people doing a lot of good things in this world, but as a human race we have become much too inwardly focused. As a whole, we are forgetting what Jesus taught :”Whatever you shall do unto the least of these, you do unto me.” Truly successful people know that if they help others succeed, and are genuinely happy to see them do so, then they will continue to succeed also. They know that there is no shortage in the universe, and a God who created all that we know is certainly capable of providing more than enough abundance and prosperity for every person who seeks it. Not everyone wants monetary or material riches. Success means different things to different people, but whatever your picture of success looks like you can have it.
The hard truth is that unless you can find joy in the promise of abundance before you see the actual physical manifestation of it, you will never find it. Beyond the spiritual or religious connotations of the Law of Attraction, there is actual science behind it. We learned in 3rd grade science that like attracts like.
Energy is neither created or destroyed, it only changes form. Remember that? Well, if you can accept that basic scientific fact, then it’s not such a stretch to believe that the universe and everything in it is energy-based and vibrational; including you. Every thought we have has a vibration. Every emotion we feel, has a vibration. And since like attracts like, we need to be conscious of our thoughts and emotions because positive thoughts and emotions will bring more of the same. Negative thoughts and emotions will bring more of the same. Now, you don’t have to police your thoughts or try to suck a negative thought or comment back into your head once it escapes. Just turn your attention to something more positive as soon as you become aware of it. Here’s the good news!…for every thought about something you don’t want, the universe energetically creates the opposite and holds the vibration of what you do want, and when the vibration you offer is in the positive more often than not you will start to see more joy and goodness in your life.
So, your task for today is to just be aware of your thoughts and emotions throughout the day. How do you feel when that guy cuts you off in traffic? Can you choose a better-feeling thought about him? When your kids are not listening, how do you feel? Just notice how you feel, and when negativity slips in just notice it and let it go. That’s it.
Religiousness is your gratefulness towards existence.
Such beautiful trees, such infinite sky, so many stars and you have not paid for anything. This immense universe is given to you with all its beauty, sunrises, sunsets, and all the flowers and beautiful people. Just watch and you will be aware that so much is already given, but you are taking it for granted. You have never looked at it as a gift from existence without your asking, without your demanding.
Once you start seeing all that has already been given, your heart will be full of gratitude. And that gratitude will open all the doors, all the windows. Existence is bridged by only one thing and that is gratefulness. Then miracles start happening to you. Then mysteries go on opening their doors to you. The more humble, the more simple, the more grateful, the more worthy you become -- and your worthiness has no limits.
Isaac Asimov has made a beautiful statement: "God loves all men, but is enchanted by none." Existence loves everybody -- and a man who has disappeared as an ego, as a personality, is nothing but a vehicle to existence. He does not love; he is love. I would like to remind you about Oscar Wilde. He says, "To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance."
If you will see what miracles are happening around you, within you, you will respect yourself too, you will love yourself too. If the whole existence loves you, you will love yourself. And that is the only romance that knows no divorce. But it is not arrogant, it is not egoistic. That has to be remembered, because ego is a closing factor.
Arrogance divides you from existence. To be nobody is the greatest achievement in the world. But we are living in a very insane world – and when I say insane world, I only mean the insane humanity -- it goes on demanding and it has no gratitude for anything. Everybody thinks that he is very worthy; life is just not giving the right opportunities. One should understand in a different way. Whatever is given, you don't even deserve that. There is no right to demand; everything is given out of abundance, not because of your right.
A woman went to her psychiatrist and said, "Doctor, I want to talk to you about my husband. He thinks he is a refrigerator." "That's not so bad,"said the doctor, "it is a rather harmless complex." "Well, maybe," replied the lady, "but he sleeps with his mouth open and the light keeps me awake."
We are living in such a world where you never see that you are mad. Everybody is throwing all their garbage on other people. The woman thinks that the husband is insane, and in actuality, she is insane. She believes that he is a refrigerator, and the problem is not that he is a refrigerator -- he can go to hell – the problem is he sleeps with an open mouth and the light keeps her awake the whole night!
Always remember -- whenever you start condemning anything, remember always -- whenever you are going to complain against existence: have you made a list of what has been given to you by existence? No! Nobody has any idea even that anything has been given. But if any small thing is missing you make so much fuss about it; that shows your insanity. The same person is utterly blissful just because so much is available, and without asking. He has never asked for this wonderful world and he has been given it. And he has not even thanked the universe.

Universal Laws are the foundation for humans to function in a three-dimensional world. There are twelve major laws and 21 sub-laws. They are all inter-related and founded on the understanding that everything is energy, including humans. At the microscopic level, we are a whirling mass of electrons and energy atoms spinning. Our thoughts, feelings, words and actions are forms of energy. What we think, feel, say and do in each moment comes back to create our reality. Everyone’s thoughts, feelings, words and actions create our collective consciousness, thus, creating the world we see.
The thoughts you think create the feelings you feel. These feelings also create a tone or mood. Some people are subject to the mood of anything and everything, including the weather, and the moods of other’s opinions.
People who live in the deepest levels of personal satisfaction choose their thoughts, feelings and subsequent mood. Choosing your thoughts, feelings and mood is analogous to exercising a muscle. Choose it and send it forth.
Pause—choose what mood you want to generate this moment, and the moments forward. Are you choosing joy, forgiveness, compassion, kindness or something negative? What will be the mood you choose? What mood would you like to be contagious to every person you meet today?
You can generate, broadcast and feel any positive or negative mood you choose. Notice what transpires in your energy of well-being and personal satisfaction when you choose to have a positive mood. Notice what transpires in your energy of well-being and personal satisfaction when you choose to have a negative mood.
What will you choose this moment? Notice how it feels. If you are uncomfortable with your choice—choose again and again until you feel comfortable. ###

Happy Sounds (about Matt & Wez mixing, by Tirza)
Music’s playing Happy laughter Two male voices Discussing in joyful enthusiasm It makes her smile
The creative energy Pervades the whole house Sounds are being played Singly, together
Unaufadox at the buttons Mixing to his heart’s delight Soulful voiced Lexis With a smile in his voice The girls – one human, one cat – Stretched out in the bedroom Riding on the vibes of joy Letting themselves be carried By the many-layered waves Acoustic signals Bouncing off the walls
It is happy time Her spirit soars listening Feeling The positive vibes Creation in flow Creativity freely reigning
It is all good…
(Tirza E. M. Schaefer)
Matt is one of Wez's clients, a very talented young artist. They are currently working on Matt's album and mixed one of the songs while I was visiting. As they were working, I was in the other room with the cat and writing this poem amongst other things. It was a great creative energy and I wrote a nice short-story as well (at least the beginning). Now and then, the men's voices and laughter drifted into my consciousness and I felt the happy mood and creative energy all around, adding to it myself. So ths happy mood was the generator of this poem. Says a lot about some people's work ethics as well! Focussed, precise, dedicated, yet with an open mind and heart, fully in the creative flow...
There is an amazing similarity between the "KARMA YOGA" as taught and preached by Lord Krishna in "GITA" and the teachings and life of Lord Jesus Christ.
Karma Yoga is selfless service unto humanity. "Your duty is to work incessantly but not to expect the fruits thereof." This is the central teaching of the Gita. A Karma Yogi should have an amiable, loving, social nature. He should have sympathy, adaptability, self-restraint, tolerance, love and mercy. He should adjust himself to the ways and habits of others. He should be able to bear insult, harsh words, criticism, pleasure and pain, heat and cold. Selfishness is the source of all vices. It is born of ignorance. A selfish man is greedy and unrighteous. He is far from God. He will do anything to attain his ends. He injures others, robs their properties and does many sinful actions to satisfy his selfishness. He has neither scruples nor character.
Peace of mind is unknown to him. He is always planning and scheming for acquisition of wealth, power, name and fame. He always separates himself from others. He is very much attached to his wife, children and property. Attachment and sense of separateness are present in him to a maximum degree. Selfishness is a great impediment to Yoga. Destroy selfishness through selfless service, charity, Satsanga ( association with true Self-Realised sages ). Develop eager enthusiasm for selfless disinterested service. Have a wide, generous, large-hearted tolerance. Be kind to all. Love all. Serve all. Serve the Lord in all.
Develop cosmic love (Visva Prema). Identify yourself with the Visva Atman (soul of the world, universal soul). Destroy selfishness and petty-mindedness. Expand. Expand. Awake. Arise. Throw off your lethargy, indifference. Lead the life of oneness and unity.
Selfless work (service of humanity) is the seed. Narayana Bhava (feeling that all creatures are manifestations of the Lord. I am serving the Lord in all beings) while serving is the root. Utsaha (zeal, cheerfulness) is the shower. Expansion of heart is the flower. Purity of heart is the fruit. This is the path of Karma Yoga.
The Karma Yogi who possesses evenness of mind casts off the fruit of works. He escapes from good and bad births. Clinging to fruit only is the cause of rebirth. When all actions are performed for God’s sake in fulfilment of His purpose, without desire for fruit, the Karma Yogi gets illumination. He shakes off the bondage of birth. He attains knowledge of Brahman ( GOD ) and, through Brahma-Jnana ( GOD-REALIZATION ), liberation ( salvation ) or Moksha or Nirvana.
THE ABOVE SAID WORDS ARE THE TEACHINGS OF "KARMA YOGA" AS TAUGHT AND PREACHED BY LORD KRISHNA IN 'GITA". NOW, LET US TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT LORD JESUS TAUGHT AND HOW HE LIVED HIS LIFE AND HOW HIS TEACHINGS AND LIFE HAVE SIMILARITY WITH THE 'KARMA YOGA" AS TAUGHT AND PREACHED BY LORD KRISHNA IN 'GITA" -------
Jesus the Christ lived his life in such a way that it has many similarities with the teachings of "Karma Yoga" and Jesus taught the same to all, because He never worked for results; He had neither desire for name nor ambition for fame or for earthly prosperity. His works were a free offering to the world. He labored for others, devoted His whole life to help others, and in the end died for others. Being unattached to the fruits of His actions, He worked incessantly.
for the good of His fellow-men, directing them to the path of righteousness and spiritual realization through unselfish works. He understood the law of action and reaction, which is the fundamental principle of Karma Yoga, and it was for this reason that He declared, "Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."
THIS IS TO SHOW THE SIMILARITY BETWEEN THE "KARMA YOGA' AS TAUGHT AND PREACHED BY LORD KRISHNA IN "GITA" AND THE TEACHINGS AND LIFE OF LORD JESUS. KINDLY, DO NOT TAKE THIS IN A WRONG WAY.
The degree of freedom from unwanted thoughts and the degree of concentration on a single thought are the measures to gauge spiritual progress. Words of Ramana Maharshi Sameer Singh
May the Supreme Brahman protect us and guide us through giving us the strength of right understanding. May the peace of the universe be ours. Om.
A devout brahmin, wanting to receive the divine favor of the Lord, engaged his mind and senses in performing a sacrifice which consisted of giving away all of his old and decrepit cattle.
His son, who was a knower of the Vedas and who received the Truth directly from Brahman, pitied his father; knowing that his sacrifice would be useless since Brahman only accepted new gifts of charity.
Wanting to take a more direct part in the ritual, Nachiketa, the son of the brahmin, offered himself in exchange for the cattle.
Voluntarily leaving his ancestral home for the King of Death, Nachiketa wandered three nights in the astral realms, looking for the truth of impermanence.
Meeting the King of Death in a peaceful state of mind, Nachiketa asked him for three boons to make up for the three nights that he spent looking for Him.
May I be welcomed back by my father in a spirit of love and tranquility.
May I be welcomed back by my father in a spirit of humility and reverence.
May I be welcomed back by my father in a spirit of understanding and faith.
Granting this first boon, Nachiketa boldly declared to the King of Death that heaven had no place for His miserly head to shine.
O King of Death, the kindred souls of heaven do no know who you are, for they never have to worry about growing old and losing every earthly possession.
For my second boon, I wish for you to teach me the sacrifice which brings all destitute souls to the kingdom of heaven.
Agreeing with Nachiketa, the King of Death taught him all that he wished to know concerning the heavenly sacrifice.
Concerning my third boon, I wish for you to reveal to me the secret of death.
Not consenting to this request, the King of Death stated that not even the gods could understand this divine mystery.
Ask for anything else besides this. Gold, great wealth, women, fame, a mighty kingdom and all of the pleasures which you could possibly imagine are all yours if you rise to this occasion.
Nachiketa, not satisfied with any of his proposals, told the King of Death to keep all of His false pleasures to Himself.
Of what use are the objects of the flesh to one who is seeking transcendence from the impermanent nature of everything worldly.
Pleased at heart with his response, the King of Death consented to fulfilling Nachiketa's desire to taste the secret of immortality.
Hear from me now, o Nachiketa, about how to overcome the perils of death.
That which is good and virtuous is clearly different from that which is pleasurable and perishable. Those who choose the good over the pleasurable are surely wise and conscientious of a superior goal.
Having seen the results of the flesh and having renounced the impermanent, you will not have to go through life stuck in the mire of perpetual ignorance.
Being untempted by the alluring nature of appearances, you are not like those who are deceived by vanity and who run in circles, confused over where to go.
Thinking that this world alone is real, the youthful hearts of the scholarly and the ignorant fall back into the realm of suffering without pause.
Conquered by Me, the King of Death, when will they learn?
There are those who hear of the Self and there are those who see the Self.
Out of the many who hear of the Self, blessed is the one who is able to understand the Self in all its majesty.
Beyond the logic of the subtlest elements is the Self who is at one with the true teacher of Brahman.
Leaving theories and opinions behind, attain to the truth of Reality.
Had I more students like you, Nachiketa, the whole world would be blessed by the Eternally Wise Sages of the Past.
Seeing all as lesser than the Supreme Brahman, worldly and celestial pleasure will no longer bang on the door of your illumined mind.
Ancient and effulgent beyond knowing, the indwelling Spirit of your lotus heart makes you love above all else the path of meditation which results in freedom from pleasure and pain.
The gates of pure bliss and joy are now yours, Nachiketa, for you know with full certainty the truth of how the Self stands apart from the body, senses and mind.
Please now impart unto me, o King of Death, what is beyond cause and effect or right and wrong.
Of all of the goals of the Vedas, the highest pursuit for the earnest seeker to follow is the utterance of the most sacred syllable OM.
OM is indeed non-different from Brahman. Whosoever understands this truth is capable of becoming the omniscient Lord who is beyond all causes and all effects.
Never slain or destroyed is he who is close to the Self. Smaller and greater than anything imaginable, the Self which is in your heart is the purest of the pure and the most joyous of the joyous.
Transcending all grief by abiding in the formless nature of Brahman, the Self is revealed to those who take no exceeding interest in wanting to obtain the Self through the studying of scriptures or through debating with other scholarly minded brahmins.
The Self is comparable to a rider and the body to a chariot. The intellect is the charioteer and the mind is the reins.
The roads which are traversed upon are our desires and the horses are the senses.
The only real enjoyer is the Self when united with the aforementioned phenomena.
Controlled by a superior power and by a steady application of will power, the charioteer of the chariot steers the body and senses towards the ultimate destination of liberation from re-birth.
The seedless seed is thus the priority of every wise soul who is pure in heart and mentally equipoised.
Narrow is the razor of Absolute Consciousness. He who is brave enough to traverse this path of immortality, know yourself as THAT.
Rare is he who shuts his eye lids in order to behold the All-Encompassing Self.
Knowing the Self, all things are known as they are.
Present when asleep and when awake is the Self who is untouched by the past or the present.
Being born from the Eternal Mind of Brahman and seeing the Creation before the Creation occurred, your lotus heart is of the First Born Soul.
The Source of every power and of every nature, what is within you is the same as what is perceivable by the senses.
Realizing that there is only One Reality throughout this infinite and manifold universe, Brahman alone is all that is and ever will be.
Pouring the pure waters of your soul into the purest body of waters, Brahman Unites with the Immortal Self, making everything that is perceived brighter than all of the fire in the universe.
In all persons and in all gods and in all of the elements, Brahman is a limitless mountain of inspiration.
Eternal peace is yours, o Nachiketa, if you can feel a strong connection with the Essence of that sound vibration OM.
The whole universe comes from you and through you. No amount of external sources of illumination can outshine or overpower you.
Without visible form and freed from temporal dualities, you radiate from your lotus heart the Supreme Person who is the Innermost Self of All Sages.
United Through Yoga, May The Peace Of The Universe Be Ours. OM.

Mama take this badge from me I can't use it anymore It's getting dark too dark to see Feels like I'm knockin' on Heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on Heaven's door Knock-knock-knockin' on Heaven's door
Mama put my guns in the ground I can't shoot them anymore That cold black cloud is comin' down Feels like I'm knockin' on Heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on Heaven's door Knock-knock-knockin' on Heaven's door
Guns N' Roses, Kocking on Heaven's Door
A spiritual awakening process is exactly like that. One day you wake up and suddenly can't do the activities you have been doing all your life. What used to give you meaning suddenly feels like a ruthless ego struggle. All you can do is to put your badge and your gun on the ground and amidst all the darkness, you suddenly knock with good faith on Heaven's door. A friend of mine did that a while back; from one day to the next she quit her job because, as she put it, she couldn't handle the negative energy at that place anymore.
Sai Baba of Shirdi was more a God than a man based on the descriptions of eye witnesses at that time. Yet, one day he wanted to spiritually advance one of his disciples so he took on his karma and consequently fell violently sick. The doctors of the town declared that he had only a few more hours to live when suddenly he requested a glass of water, poured it over himself as a symbolic act of cleansing, got up and gave the lecture he was scheduled to give.
The point is that you will always experience your ups and downs independent of what you do and independent of what your spiritual development might be, but the more you follow your purpose- driven path, the easier the going will get for you and the more meaningful and beneficial the impact will be for all parties involved, even in your down phase. In the case of my friend, she now heals people instead and helps them discovering their spiritual path as a spiritual coach which is much more uplifting and purposeful than her previous occupation. She still experiences down days though given that she steps right into the paths of her struggling clients, but that is a worthwhile price to pay if you can help your soul siblings advance on their spiritual journeys.
A spiritual path is a demolition course. Life knocks on the armor of the 'I' that you, and the environment you have been born into, have so carefully crafted over decades. But when the chink in the armor is found, a little targeted knock takes the entire structure down and all the King's horses and all the King's men can't put it together again. This is a blessed day indeed despite all the darkness that surrounds you. At that moment you will surely stumble on your purposeful path and soon enough you will be knocking on Heaven's door. If there is one certainty in this Universe it is Matthew 7:7: 'Keep on knocking and it shall open'!
November 9, 2012 an easy 20 mile meditative run, “Thinking everything is someone else’s fault, you will suffer a lot. When you realize that everything springs only from yourself, you will learn both peace and joy.”
Scorpio Season is upon us once again bringing with it another opportunity to look more deeply into our own psyche than we have ever done before. The enigmatic sign of Scorpio is associated with such intense themes as sex, death, cruelty, rebirth, power, regeneration, money and the deepest darkest depths of our own minds. Jolly good fun! Scorpio goes where angels fear to tread and for this reason is also the sign of priests and psychologists. All seven so-called ‘deadly sins’ can be explored in Scorpio with a couple more thrown in for good measure. So what is it all about? It is time to take courage, dive deeply, and understand the spiritual significance of this vitally important sign and the deepest mysteries of existence. The following information applies to everyone, not just people with planets in Scorpio. This is an important stage in the evolution of humanity, and it concerns every one of us.
Following the journey of the Soul through the 12 signs of the Zodiac, after the point of balance between body and soul has been reached in Libra, the final struggle takes place in Scorpio. This is a kind of birthing and, just like the contractions in physical childbirth, this spiritual rebirth happens in waves. As the personality gradually comes under the command of the Soul, there are waves of ‘depression’ where the personality feels as though it is being ‘squashed’, followed by waves of rebellion where it fights back. The personality doesn’t give up easily without a fight! The personality isn’t being squashed however, it is being gradually assimilated, as more spiritual energy is able to enter into the being. The end result of this struggle is total fusion of Soul and personality, body and Soul. The personality is the ‘interface’, the meeting place between the body, with all its animal urges and instinctive impulses, and the finer energies and ethereal vibrations of the Soul.
Three planetary rulers, or space-holders, are the guardians of this birthing process, which is vital for the evolution of humanity from an animalistic being into a fully awakened Soul-centered being. Both Mars and Pluto are guardians of this process at personality level, while Mars is the guardian at Soul level. In Esoteric Astrology Mars is considered a great beneficent planet (not malefic as is thought in some Astrological systems). It is through the activity of Mars that this final struggle between personality and Soul is fought and won, with the fully integrated (fused) Soul emerging victorious. Triumph and victory are keywords with Scorpio and it is important to remember this especially when the going gets tough. Mercury is the planetary ruler at Hierarchical level which we won’t explore here except to notice that this again hints at the vital importance of Scorpio for the spiritual evolution of humanity...
